Orifice plate is an economical and accurate instrument, which suits well for all flowing media at a low rate of flow
Measuring technology has a wide variety of different instruments for measuring fluid flow, but the situation is not quite the same when the boiler pipes are concerned. In every power plant, the flow measuring is still carried out in traditional way, using ISO 5167 differential pressure flow meters, or in other words flow restrictions. There are a number of reasons why there are no reliable substitutes for these instruments, one of them being the ability to operate in very high temperatures. Not to mention the reliability, which is based on the fact that the primary instrument itself has no moving parts or any electronics. Connected to any well known ΔP-transmitter, one can be sure of getting a very accurate and reliable flow measurement.
Flowhow Ltd. has generated a very strong position in manufacturing these instruments. The delivery programme includes a solution for most cases. Orifice Plates for slow waters and Venturi Tubes for high velocity steams and anything between them. The choice for a suitable instrument is discussed quite thoroughly in the net at www.flowhow.fi
